Sydney is vibrant and lively with a huge variety of lifestyles and cultures. In fact, it has it all - sun, surf, sand, cafes, museums, galleries, restaurants, bars, clubs, pubs, festivals and an abundance of activities to suit all budgets. There is always something happening 24 hours a day:

CBD

If you are working in the city then Friday night beers are almost obligatory!! Where else can you stroll from the office and be in a bar with views of some of the worlds premier landmarks?

Some of the hotspots in the financial district include Bar 333, Martin Place Bar, Ryan's Bar, Establishment, Hotel Chambers, Opera Bar and Aqualuna (to name a few). We are sure there is a comment to be made about these places being like a dry cleaners (you go in to pick up a suit) but clearly we're above that.

Darling Harbour

Lots of bars and restaurants, prime waterside situation and easy to get to!!! What more do you need??? You will be spoilt for choice. Great bars include Cargo, Bungalow 8, Loft, Home Bar - the list goes on. There is also a huge selection of restaurants from seafood to Australian to Indian and if you still have the stamina - IMAX theatre or a world renowned nightclub.

Kings Cross

The Cross is Sydney's nightlife central, offering everything from 24-hour pubs, clubs and dance venues, to strip joints, coffee shops and classy eateries. Nearby Darlinghurst is also very trendy.

Oxford Street

While not exclusively gay, Oxford Street is very proudly the camp epicentre of Australia, offering everything from pubs with free drag shows to Sydney's trendiest dance clubs. Over a million people flock there to see the annual spectacular of the Mardis Gras Parade.

Bondi and Coogee

Going to the beach can be very thirsty work if the pubs of Bondi and Coogee after dark are anything to go by. Both these beaches have rather large pubs which welcome multitudes of travellers and locals alike and stay open 'til the wee hours.

The Rocks

Apart from history, the Rocks offers more quaint old pubs than you can poke a colonial riding crop at. Various happy hours see many merry backpackers moving from venue to venue in search of the next fine ale.

Glebe

Any vegetarian traveller aching for tasty and affordable fare will surely find the eateries of Glebe to be their own reward at an affordable price. A favourite haunt of students, the pubs here are laid-back, friendly and inviting.

Newtown

Take half-a-dozen cool pubs, add two dozen Thai eateries, another two dozen cafes and a diverse range of second-hand shops and bizarre characters, and you've got King Street, Newtown.
