The newest member of the AccountAbility Business Support Team, Praneethaa Pious is currently learning the ropes of the industry in our Recruitment Bootcamp Programme. We managed to steal her away from the classroom for ten minutes to get to know her a bit better.
Tell me about yourself?
This is my first job in Recruitment and actually my first full-time job, after graduating with a business degree in November 2017. I majored in Human Resources as I’ve always had an interest in working with people and throughout my studies, my friends and family suggested that I pursue a career in Recruitment as it matches my skill set and personality well.
Outside of work, I used to play State Netball and also umpire. I’ve gained my National C Badge for umpiring which I’m pretty proud of.
I found out about the role when I was still at University. There was an advert on the Careers Hub and I immediately logged onto the website and did my research. The culture and values were really relatable to me so it was an easy choice to decide to come along for an interview.
The company really care about making a positive difference and I’ve personally been on the receiving end of some bad experiences with recruitment companies before, so I wanted to make sure that I was part of an organisation and surrounded by people who had the candidate’s best intentions at heart.
How are you finding the Bootcamp?
I’m learning so much! Before the programme, I genuinely had no idea just how much went into Recruitment from the Candidate Management Process, Business Development and interview preparation. There’s still so much more to learn but I’m leaving the office every day with a brain full of new knowledge.
What’s been your biggest takeaway from the programme so far?
That every conversation is important. It doesn’t matter who I’m speaking to or when the conversation happens, I need to have professional interactions with everyone I deal with.
What are you looking forward to most when starting the role?
I’m really looking forward to meeting clients. I never thought that I would be able to deal with CEOs and Senior business leaders in this role and I’m looking forward to getting that exposure.
Tell me about your career aspirations?
I want to emulate Fay! There was a session about career progression in my very first week which discussed a typical Recruitment Career path and I want to hit all of those milestones and reach Management level.
What did you want to be when growing up?
My parents said I used to want to be a Police Officer. They still have drawings that I did when I was much younger of me in the uniform!
What’s your favourite film?
How to lose a guy in 10 days. My boyfriend isn’t too pleased that I make him watch ‘RomComs’, he loves horror movies but I hate them so there’s got to be a compromise.
And finally, do you have a life motto?
“Every day is a new day and a fresh start”.
