​I started my career in recruitment in South Africa back in 2021. I was on maternity leave at the time when a friend needed a hand, and I was hired to recruit South Africans to work remotely for companies in the USA. Of all the roles I recruited for, payroll quickly became my favourite.

After making the rather large move to Australia with my husband and three children, I started recruiting across Payroll, Finance and Accounting in Sydney. It soon became clear that my strength lay within Payroll, largely because I had developed such a genuine interest in the space. Fast forward a few years, and I decided to join the team at AccountAbility and focus solely on Payroll recruitment.

My role at AccountAbility is essentially to come to the rescue when my clients have a payroll staffing need! I partner with businesses across both temporary and permanent recruitment, helping them find the right payroll professionals for their teams.

The reason I have such an interest in payroll is because it is an ever-changing landscape that I think is deeply misunderstood. Most people agree that payroll is an incredibly important function, but don't necessarily understand the ins and outs of what it takes to make sure their remuneration actually lands in their bank account and their super fund, correctly and on time.

There is so much complexity, particularly in Australia, when it comes to legislation and compliance. Every business is different, with varying headcounts, Awards, EBAs, systems and processes. Because I am naturally a very curious person, I genuinely want to understand how a business operates, what its challenges are and exactly what it needs and then I get to put my FBI/Cupid hat on and find the right match!

I think that curiosity helps me identify candidates who are genuinely well aligned with a business and its needs, and that is where much of my success has come from, along with being a bit of a Chatty Cathy who loves building relationships. My clients trust me and know they can rely on me to partner with them every step of the way.

Outside of recruitment, I love investing my time in teaching my children to be the best versions of themselves and setting them up for success, whether that's cheering them on from the sidelines at their sports or guiding them through life's decisions.

I'm also a nature enthusiast and appreciate the miracle in every sunrise, every spectacular view, every living creature and the energy that surrounds us when we're outdoors.
