Assistant Accountant
- $85k - $90k + Super | Sydney CBD NSW, 2 Days WFH | Full AU Working Rights
- Hands‑on role with exposure to month‑end, balance sheet & reporting
- Move away from transactional AP/AR and develop as an Accountant
This role has been designed for someone who wants to build technical accounting capability, gain confidence in core accounting processes and grow into an Accountant under the mentorship of an experienced FC. You'll very much be their right‑hand person, with ongoing training, development and progression.
An excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant looking to take the next step into a broader Accountant role. This permanent position supports the Australian finance function in a leading software company and works closely with the Financial Controller, offering strong hands‑on exposure across month‑end, balance sheet accounting, fixed assets and compliance.

THE ROLE
- Assisting with month‑end close and preparation of monthly management accounts
- Balance sheet reconciliations and variance investigation
- Fixed asset accounting including asset register maintenance and depreciation
- Preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments
- Intercompany accounting and cost reallocations
- Payroll support including payroll tax, super and leave provisions
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assistance with ATO compliance, audits and statutory requirements
- Ad‑hoc reporting and financial analysis
- Responding to finance queries from the wider business
- Supporting continuous improvement across finance processes and controls
THE PERSON
- Experience as an Assistant Accountant or junior Accountant
- Currently in, or moving away from, AP/AR and keen for broader accounting exposure
- Understanding of month‑end processes and reconciliations
- Exposure to fixed assets, BAS and month-end reporting is highly regarded
- Strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail with a proactive, can‑do attitude
- Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn
- Full working rights in Australia (permanent role)
