About the Role
Our client, a well-regarded not-for-profit organization, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join their team in Blacktown. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong payroll experience, particularly within the not-for-profit sector and under the SCHADS Award. The role offers a temporary-to-permanent pathway and requires full-time office attendance.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for all staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Administer payroll functions including pay adjustments, deductions, and recoverable payments from employees
- Manage step increases and ensure timely updates in the payroll system
- Interpret and apply the SCHADS Award, including penalty rates, allowances, and classifications
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure adherence to relevant legislation and internal policies
- Liaise and coordinate with other departments such as HR and Finance to ensure data accuracy and timely reporting
- Manage superannuation, PAYG, and other statutory obligations
- Prepare payroll reports and support audits and financial reporting processes
- Address employee payroll queries professionally and promptly
- Stay informed on changes in payroll legislation and industry best practices
Qualifications & Experience
- 3 years experience in end to end payroll processing, ideally within the not-for-profit sector
- Proficiency in using large ERP systems for payroll processing
- Solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience with the SCHADS Award
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of salary packaging and fringe benefits in the not-for-profit sector
