The Role
As Assistant Payroll Manager, you will support and guide the national payroll function, ensuring accurate, efficient and compliant payroll processing in the Financial Services space.
The role blends leadership, BAU governance, systems improvements, and involvement in large‑scale transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of end‑to‑end fortnightly payroll processing on Dayforce
  • Support with month‑end and year‑end deadlines
  • Interpretation of multiple awards and EBAs
  • Ensuring strong compliance, data accuracy and audit readiness
  • Acting as second‑in‑command to the Payroll Manager
  • Driving process improvements, system testing and control enhancements
  • Providing payroll guidance and coaching to the payroll team and wider business stakeholders
About You
You enjoy working in a fast‑paced, change‑driven environment and bring a strong combination of technical payroll knowledge and people leadership skills. You'll be joining a genuine, down‑to‑earth and supportive team that values collaboration, problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
  • At least 5 years Payroll experience with strong end‑to‑end payroll knowledge
  • Experience working with awards and EBAs
  • Strong leadership capabilities, someone who wants to progress
  • Comfort working through systems upgrades, implementations or payroll transformations
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and professional communication skills
  • Dayforce experience ideal but not essential
